Who I am
My website address is: https://andymelchior.com.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, it collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor's IP address and browser user-agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it; the Gravatar Privacy Policy is at automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies, for your convenience, so you don't have to fill in your details again. These cookies last one year. Visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Logging in sets several cookies to save your login information and screen-display choices — login cookies last two days, screen-option cookies a year; "Remember Me" persists for two weeks. Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie with no personal data, indicating the post ID you just edited; it expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in.
Who I share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically rather than held in a moderation queue. Registered users' profile information is stored; all users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except their username). Administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request erasure of any personal data held about you — this excludes data that must be kept for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
